Rustic Bedroom Design Ideas | Creative. Conceptual. Quintessential. Sexy. Unique. These are merely a number of words that can describe Lady Gaga, who was simply crowned the most powerful celebrity in 2011 (she even beat Oprah!). Gaga is renowned for her activism, inspiring a “Born this Way” campaign, she’s got a following of ‘little monsters’, which is even developing a clothing line with her little sister, Natali. So it’s wonder that Gaga’s passion for fashion can easily be translated into design and home d?cor.
There are merely countless possibilities that I don’t know how to start!
One thing definitely applies for design inspired by Gaga: there won’t be any rules! If you’re itching to create a Gaga-inspired bedroom or lounge, do not forget that less is not best (because with Gaga, you can never have too much!). Just think of her many daring and exaggerated outfits; jane is definitely a centerpiece herself. Speaking of centerpieces, I recommend an over-the-top chandelier like a focal piece – like certainly one of Foucault’s orb crystal chandeliers, it really is sure to be a conversation piece alone. This chandelier (by Restoration Hardware) is reminiscent of Gaga’s orb headpiece she wore about the Fall Preview Issue (#60) of V Magazine or the Nasir Mazhar designed metal orbs she wore in ’09 while performing at Saturday Night Live.

Texture is vital when designing a Gaga-esque style. You can never plenty of texture. Don’t be afraid to combine and match! For example, you can test mixing silky soft bedding, in rich colours like fuchsia, royal purple or deep blue, with textured throw rugs or blankets. I recommend an attractive sheepskin throw you could elegantly drape at the foot of one’s bed to include a a little colour along with a touch of warmth. These rugs will also be multipurpose since drape them over your chairs to safeguard the upholstery or add some comfort to your precious derriere. Don’t forget to include some fun to your accessories, like incorporating oversized throw pillows with cutes silk bows in it, which pulls from Lady Gaga’s bow hair she wore during her Poker Face days.
Go crazy using the wall colours. Don’t be afraid to use bold paint colours as well as patterned wallpapers (remember to colour block one of the things wall boldly with either paint or wallpaper after which mute surrounding walls). If you’re choosing the elegant Gaga look, I suggest using damask-patterned wallpaper inside a dark colour, like black or grey. You can even pick something which carries a slight sheen for it. The dark colours can make your accents pop and draw more attention to your focal pieces, like the chandelier. A high gloss pink (or white) lacquered cupboard may not only act like a storage unit to your clothes, but would ground the room giving your colour palatte a chance to pop more. Make sure to incorporate a selection of oversized floor mirrors in order to check yourself out while adding some style. I’m sure that Gaga would approve!
If you’re guy and don’t want to include some from the frilly design elements, like the bows or “girly” colours, live in the dark tones – like black, silver, and deep shades of blue (like navy blue, cobalt blue or midnight blue) that can add more of a typical masculine element towards the bedroom. You can even add inside a a little red just as one accent colour (try Valentino Red) in most geometric shapes, like some geometric patterned mirrors, which can be recurring throughout Gaga’s Poker Face video (along with a current theme in her wardrobe, too). Or add a headboard created from leather which is reminiscent of Gaga’s biker-chick look for my child Born this Way album.
Whatever your plan is, make sure you have fun with it. Gaga is all about fun, freedom, taking risks and being yourself. As Gaga herself would say, “don’t be a drag, just be a queen!”
